This paper discusses the current status of plastic water bottles, including their impact on the environment and human health, and explores potential future directions for addressing these issues.

Plastic water bottles are ubiquitous in modern society, used for containing water and various beverages. Their popularity stems from their convenience, lightweight nature, and resistance to breaking. However, the overuse of plastic water bottles has contributed to a global plastic pollution crisis, raising concerns about their sustainability.
2. Current Status
2.1 Environmental Impact
Plastic water bottles are made from non-biodegradable materials, primarily polyethylene terephthalate (PET). These bottles can take hundreds of years to decompose, leading to the accumulation of plastic waste in landfills, oceans, and other natural environments. This waste not only litters landscapes but also poses a threat to wildlife, as animals may ingest or become entangled in plastic debris.
